Practice Makes P E R F l Who says that putting on a Foot- ball spectacular is easy? Anything that brings success takes practice. Our clubs and organizations at Carter do a very good job. The per- formances that they do are always in step and on time. Our band, better known as the CC Marching Machine, wakes up very early in the morning to start their engines. Their practice usual- ly began at 7:00 in the morning. Before most of the students wake up, the band is practicing on its routines. The Calicos work very hard to perfect their routines. It is very evident in their dance routines. It is very hard to twirl a baton while jumping, and dancing, but the Ma- jorettes use the practice makes perfect approach. They practice until their baton's are just like a part of their hands. At the football games the crowd is always very enthusiastic. The cause of this is the football team, and the cheerleaders. It takes 2 lot of long practices to perfect 2 good team, and a champion. All o these groups prove that practice makes perfect. During every week of the varsity football season, there comes a time before the football game where everyone jumps up and down to support the Cowboys. We're talking about the pep rallies, held on the morning of the last day of the school week, usually a Fri- day. These gatherings are to prove to the football teams tvarsity, junior varsity, and freshmanl that the Carter student body is with them in any athletic contest they participate in. The pep rallies last from 7:45 to 8:15 in the morning, but that's more than enough time. The Cheerleaders open with a few cheers to stir every0ne's blood. Then there is the posting of the colors and the Pledge. The Band, Calicos, Majorettes, and the junior Varsity Cheerleaders come next on the agenda. There is lots of music, singing, dancing - so much that the noise is almost deafening. There is also lots of competition for the spirit stick, given by the Cheerleaders in honor of the foot- ball teams. Then there is the sing- ing of the school song M Hail Carter High. A perfect ending to a perfect pep rally! 24 ATIME SHCHNICITHAT CCSWRH' 3. Above: The Cheerleaders build a pyramid. Go, fight, win! say 'fm Varsity Cheerleaders
