The womons ' tennis season was a different but exciting season. Winning half of our practicle matches, the team looked ok. But our league was changed and we were put against two new superteams, Narbonne and Gardena. We ended up in . ' ird place which was outstanding considering the circumstances. Led by singles players Marva Scott and I.aurann Hardie and tremendously strong double teams, all the coaches were very impressed with our play and sportsmanship. The other supporting members of this great team were Mary McKnight, Debra Holmes. Karen Scott, Gwen Scott, Regina Daniels, Tina Baca, Lisa Richards. Linda Williams. Diana Hill, Catherine Curtis, Eugenia Todd. Veronica Rice, Denise Coleman, Lisa Brown, and Cindy McMiliian. During the Individual Tournament, at the end of the year, Laurann Hardie made it to the semifinals before losing to the 6lh best player in the city, in doubles, Gwen Scott and Karen Scott made it to the semifinals before losing to the 10th best team in the city. The outlook for next year looks great with only four girls graduating. Congratulation girls on a great season. WO.MEi ' S TENNIS Sitting Down. Left to Right: F. Hill. M. Mitchell. R. Williams. W. Establishing a 3 and I record in pre- season, our team looks very balanced with substitutes who can also play very well. Led by singles players, Mathew Jones and Ebon Knox, and doubles players. Craig Russell and Kevin Roberson, the Bulldogs figure to be strong this year in league. Top supporting members of this squad are Alvin Cleveland, Cercinus Hines. Wayne Sparks. Forrest Dickson, Steve Orange. Ricky Williams. Marlon Mitchell, Jerome Crutchfield, Fred Hill, David ( hildress, Leonard McDaniels, and Don demons. The team is putting forth long hours on the tennis courts practicing and playing in tennis tournaments. Mathew Jones just won First Place in the Cal-State Northridge Tournament.
