The major objective of the Health Department is to develop an under- standing of basic health concepts. Encourages at- titudes and skills that lead to effective deci- sions on individual, fam- ily, and public health. The main objective of Driver Education is to de- velop knowledge, atti- tudes, and skills needed to understand and adapt to metropolitan traffic. Includes study of traffic safety for pedestrians and drivers. H O M E E C O N O M I C S Mrs. M. Edomud Home Economics The Home Economics Depart- ment instructs students to use nutritional information and food technology through skillful planning and preparation of dai- ly meals. Develops ability to shop with discrimination and consumer skill, to plan and work efficiently in preparing and serving meals, to select nurti- tious foods and to acquire effi- cient and safe working habits. A R T In art, students are able to ex- press themselves through the use of color, design, and tex- tures. The objective of the Art Department is to give the stu- dent a basic background in art. Jordan High has often been in- volved in competitive art con- tests. Much of the art received honorable awards. The Music Department seeks to interest students in all forms of vocal and instrumental music. Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter programs exhibit the wide range of skills in the De- partment. N D U s T R I A L b: Robert Elroy Wood Industrial Arts develop technical skills which are certain to prove useful in the future world of work. Auto Shop classes enable the stu- dents to work on cars and to gain comparable knowledge in the func- tioning of motors. In Print Shop, the students study the processes in- volved in printing posters, newspa- pers, tickets, etc. In Wood Shop, stu- dents are able to display their abili- ties in creating all types of furni- ture. In Industrial Arts teachers seek to train students in the proper procedures of handling power tools, and intricate mechanical equip- ment.
