ILLIAMS, BATTEY WI -ELECTIO Only 150 Voters Decide Outcome of Election The importance of a single vote was emphasized in the Senior Student Body election as Ralph Williams was elected president by a scant 77-75 margin with only a little more than 2001, of the students yoting. Had any one person who voted for Williams voted for Hill the vote would have been 76 76 a tie and a runoff would have been necessary In other words any one person might have changed the result of the election When less than Z0 a of the student body votes the re sults of the election are not ne cessarily typlcal of the entire student body ln addition to Williams those elected include Student Body Vice President Earl Battey Girls D1 vision President Iestine Barnett Recording Secretary Billie J'ean Carter, Corresponding Secretary Agrlpina Adriano Treasurer Ri Chard Brice and Yell King Earl .Tones Others elected to Boys and Girls Division offices include Girls Division First Vice Pres Gail Diggs Girls Div Second Vice Pres Annie Jones Corres ponding Sec Eleanor Andrews Recording Secretary Beverly Thomas, Boys Division Vice President Allen Doby Boys Div Sec Willie Anderson and Girls Div Tres Mae Dean Jones Annie Jones and John Heath both won their posts in runoffs Annie edged out Daisy Williams while John Heath was selected penter Ralph Williams who recent ly was named to the all league second string in football has been president of the Senior B class captain of the football team and a track ace Earl Battey scored more points during the past basket ball season than any player in the history of the Los Angeles City Schools He doubles as a catcher on the baseball team tmpgf- STUDENT LEADERS Pictured above are members of the Senior Coun c1l who have been responsible for running student govermnent at Jordan broughout the current semester mg, ueen eign over Senior Prom Some 350 people are expected to attend the postponed Senior Prom Friday night 8 until l2 in the cafe teria under the reign of a still un known king and queen Supplytng the music at the gala affair will be Oscar Saldonia an d his six piece band awww, 'NX -Q,-agiw 'T' 1 C ,l PALS Coach B1l1Pothoff back at Jordan after a year and a half as a captain 1n the Marine Corps is showr- with a Korean friend L1mpy', and orphaned vlctim the Korean War Elementary Students Get Jordan Tour Over 240 A 6 students from neighboring grammar schools were treated last week to an or1 entation program designed to ac quaint them with the campus and the varied activities that they may expect to find as Jordan High School students next semester Mr Herbert Morey, principal opened the get acquainted assem bly by extending an official wel come Entertaining at the pro gram were the Junior Choir h Boys and Girls Glee Clubs and of Mr L1pp1 Featured in the assembly was a short skit entitled Homework enacted by the Drama class under the direction of Mrs Reynolds and an athletic exhibition by Earl Battey and Alton Hamilton After the assembly, the visi tors were conducted on a tour of campus by the Barbara .Tordan Ladies and the Junior Lancers The A 6 students represented l02nd Street 96th Street 9ZndSt Grape Compton Avenue lllth St and Gorman Grammar Schools l .
