One . . . two . . . three. . . Sounds like fun, doesn't it? Well, P.E. can be fun, with tumbling, swimming, and organized games. But physical education has a purpose. Striving to build sound bodies to house alert minds, the P.E. department plans a well-rounded program. Two years of P.E. are required, while upperclassmen may ta ke an advanced course. Among the sports and games offered are baskete ball, volleyball, wrestling, badminton, softball, ten- nis, and track. ln addition, a health unit and a two- week bowling course are given. Because of these necessary changes, science courses today are tar different from science courses of a decade ago. To- day students have a greater variety ot texts and equipment to use in building an understanding ot the underlying principles ot science. One ot the latest additions has been the two photo labs, one in the Senior Building and one in the Junior Building. At Douglas the student is offered a choice ot classes so that he may study introductory courses such as general science and physical science, or he may choose more specitic studies such as biology, chemistry and physics. x The dissection of a worm is supervised by Mr. Gernhart.
