Mr. J. Floyd Light Deput uperintendent Senior Building principal tor eight years, Mr. Howard F. Horner was promoted last year to the position of District Deputy Superintendent, He now serves directly under Mr. Light, helping the Super- intendent to Carry out his many responsibilities. Hav- ing been placed in charge of secondary education, he works in close association with the David Douglas administration and faculty. uperintendent Serving as the link between the school board and the administration for the past decade, Mr. Floyd Light has assumed the responsibility ot the schools' attairs. These responsibilities include bud- get construction, personnel, school activities, and building projects, for which he is accountable to the school board. Mr. Howard F. Horner

Among The many inven- Tions puT inTo use in The pasT decade were The overhead pro- jecTor, educaTional Television, reading pacers, language lab- oraTories, and The UNIVAC ma- chine. These have alfered our Teaching meThods considerably, bringing info being such innova- Tions as Team Teaching. EducaTion is a word Tull oT profound meaning To an ad- minisTraTor or a Teacher. IT brings To mind The busTle of a hallway, The worn pages oT a Textbook, a hand waving TranTically, or a puzzled Tace lighTing up wiTh new-Tounol unolersTanding. BUT above all, iT means school. Teaching and counseling meTh- ools may change, buT The pur- pose of Teaching is always The same-To mold The David Doug- las youTh of Today inTo The re- sponsible adulT of Tomorrow.
