A Coronation party February 17 was the scene of the crowning of Diane Veskma as FFA Sweetheart. Diane was chosen from three candidates by the FFA members. Her attendants were Sharon Iaster and Ianet Nixon. Diane has been active in FHA all through high school and was state secretary and chapter president dur- ing her senior year. the FFA Sweetheart and the FHA King, . . Q!!'.' ' '21 Dwain Zelda, the 1958 FHA King. was crowned during a ioint party of the FPA and FHA. Dwain was one of three candidates that were voted on by the FHA girls. His attendants were Ierome Svoboda and Roger Mil- ler. Dwain has been active in FFA dur- ing his iour years in high school and has attended a number of conventions and held offices.

-v-qv, - - The 1957 Homecoming Queen, Diane Veskrna, was crowned during the half- time of the David City-Ashland foot- ball game. Attending Diane were Mary Schroeder and Doris Kilgore. The girls were chosen from all the senior pep club girls by the members of the football squad. The entire male student body then voted on the can- didates to determine who was queen. received by the homecoming royalty, . . The identity of the 1957 Homecom- ing King, Mike Vasina, was also re- vealed during the halftime show of the David City - Ashland football game. Attendants to the king were Spike Payne and Kenny Stara. The boys were chosen from the senior boys taking football by the pep club. The entire female student body then voted for the boy they wished for king,

V 1. 5. C 0 Representative from David City at the annual Girl's State in Lincoln was Mary Lou Schroeder. Mary was cho- sen by the American Legion Auxiliary on the basis of achievement in schol- arship, personality, poise, leadership abilities, character, and participation in activities. Mary has been active in pep club. student council, band, and choir throughout her high school career. our Girls Stater and Regents Scholar, . . Carol Barlean received the Regents Scholarship from the University oi Ne- braska, which is worth 5100. The scholarship is awarded on the basis of the score received in the exams which were taken by the top quarter of the senior class. Marilyn Hoeft and Ianice Schlaut- man received altemate awards and may use any scholarship refused by a winner.
