SENIORS The fall of '47 saw 83 freshmen wandering throughout the buildina Officiating for the class that year was the president, lack Lana, vice-president, Donna Martin, secretary-treas urer, Bill Peters, and student council represen- tative, Don lohnson This class was the larg- est enrolled at David City High School for many years, An outstanding event of the sophomore year was a sight-seeing tour of Lincoln which the class received for winning an inter-class ticket-selling contest. This included a tour through the State Capitol Building, the Ne- braska State Penitentiary, and Morrill l-lall. Officers that season were ludy Richards, president, Ben Zinneclcer, vice-president, Nor- ma Armagost, secretary, Carole Vanderlcolk, treasurer, with Phyllis Blevins, Iohn Lang, and Doyle Fyfe serving on the student council. Highlighting the junior year events were the junior class play, entitled, Oh Father, and the spring banquet given for the senior class. The play had an all-girl cast with the exception of father who was portrayed by a different local businessman each night. Dick Wrede and Edgar Thomas portrayed Father The banquet, carried out in a Hawaiian motif, used the theme Aloha throughout the affair. Elected president that fall was Donna Mar- tin, assisted by vice-president, lack Lang, secretary, Phyllis Blevins, and treasurer, Don Iohnson Serving as student council members were Ben Zinnecker, Don Hopwood, Barbara Michael, and Lois Gibson. The season of '50-'51 found the seniors par- ticipating in many activities, Sneak clay, sen- ior teas, the banquet, as well as music, sports, speech, journalism, and pep club took up much of their time. The senior girls were en- tertained at a tea given by the Business and Professional Women's Club Thursday, Feb. l5, and by the P. E. O. at a later date. Senior class officers were lack Lang, presi- dentg lack Gilmore, vice-president, Lois Gib- son, secretaryg and La Dellys Vrana, treas- urer.
