Playing a musical instrument always seems to be a favorite pastime when day is done. The David City students like to do it any time, that is why they have organized such a good band. This body of fifty-six music- makers, including several majorettes, is di- rected by Mr. C. Q. Crandell. Besides the school activities, the band also takes part in many out-of-town activities. Hmong these are the Nebraska State Fair, the Platte County Fair, University Band Day, and the Butler County Fair. ln the spring music clinic, which was held March 29, the band was directed by Professor Carl Forsberg, director of the instrumental music department of Midland College. The band gave two concerts this winter, one on Sunday, February l3, and the other March 13. The year was highlighted by the music contest held at Fremont on Ptpril 8 in which not only the band but also several small groups and soloists took part. The junior band, swing band, pep band, and the small groups help to keep things as lively and happy as possible.
