This year is the first year that David City has had a bull- whacker training pro- gram. The school is furnished with cars that have dual con- trols. The students do actual behind-the- Wheel driving and take their examination fora driver's license. The program at the present time is directed by Mr. Walter Schlichting with Mr. Iohn Tomek as driving instructor. Eva Kilgore is present- ed with a driving cer- tificate by a state pat- rolman after having taken the examination. David City has adopted a hot lunch program at the Central school building. Those students desiring hot meals can have them for twenty-five cents a meal. The meals must have a certain Calorie content. The kamp kettle is prepared and served by Mrs. Rose Kozisek, Mrs. Blevins, and Mrs. Iohn Tomek. '5 J' 1 'W qos I 'gif' QW. Ht the present time they are maintaining four covered wagons which bring students from all direc- tions to school every day. 'hx X .1 l-Q-Z 4' 315 -R Those persons desirous of continuing their trip after high school can take a college pre- paratory course and thus prepare themselves for new adventures, This course consists of two or three years of science, two or three years of mathematics, two or three years of social studies, two years of foreign language, and three or four years of English. The tedious task of fording the river was well done this year with the able assistance of several guides. Miss Catherine Swanson had charge of all science, biology, physics, and chemistry. Mr. Mercer's algebra and classes and Mr. Burnett Vauck's advanced algebra class had many weary moments, and anguished sighs of distress. geometry Mr. Coslor tests Sara Beckler's hearing on the audiometer. -.-. -Q .. it l - 1'.v- - - ,Q- Mr. lohn Rumbaugh has led many a ve- hement debate in his world history classes. Mr. Walter Schlichting had charge of Hmeri- can History and first semester civics and sec- ond semester sociology classes. Many have been the social problems that have come out of that room. Mr. Frank Highby was guide for the Latin and 9th grade English classes. Mr. Rex Coslor taught llth and 12th grade English and Miss Lucille Hoffman was in charge of the lUth grade English. David City high is recognized as one of the best schools in Nebraska and is accredited in the North Hrnerican Central Hssociation of Schools and Colleges. This makes it a very excellent place to take a college preparatory course. Mr. Highby explains a Latin translation to Marldene Lanspa and Maxine Klein. 4'
