What a challenge to try and capture it in a scrapbook! Only one group took on that task; the 1983 Olympian Staff. This weary but brave staff battled croppers, picameters, copykeys, and 3R forms. They spent long hours struggling through workshops and beating on doors selling their wares. When the dust had settled, the battle was over and the Olympians were once again victorious! right: Olympian coeditors-bottom: Brad Lisko, Nancy Haren, Butch Yoder, Bretta Hillyer and Editor in Chief, Teri Newell Below: Butch Yoder, Bretta Hillyer, and Sue Oshaben attend the workshop at the Burger Chef. Gerrard never dreamed he would spend 26 years of his life as the minister of the Lisbon Presbyterian Church. Since his retirement 11 Vi years ago, Reverand Gerrard has kept active involving himself in the community as a guest speaker and minister at many local activities. We here at Lisbon High School Dedication have become accustomed to seeing his bright face at many school activities. He has sponsored The National Honor Society for 22 years. He often shares his wisdom with a spark in his eyes to many of our students. Honoring Reverand Gerrard with the yearbook dedication is a small tribute for the many things he has contributed to our school and community. Mrs. Arnold’s Biology Olympic team does. Why? It was one of the many trivia questions asked in the Biology trivia competition at the Biology Olympics day at Slippery Rock College in April. The 5 member, 1 alternate team participated in events such as experimental design, biology bowl, biology charades and a scavenger hunt. In the individual events. Captain Butch Yoder, competed in physiology. Brad Lisko in genetics. Charles Davis in anatomy, Jon Gallo in taxonomy, and Connie Crowl in ecology. Oh. by the way. the answer is the HMS Beagle. Jim Peaco “Why are they dropping eggs from the physics lab window?’ was a question heard frequently by Mrs. Morckel’s physics students. This seemingly bizarre activity was in preparation for the annual “Physics Phun Day” held in April at the Youngstown State University campus. As a result of their treacherous practice, the team took 2nd and 4th place in the egg drop competition. Students constructed a container in which an egg was placed. The containers were then dropped at various heights. The container which sustained the highest fall without breaking was the winner. The team also participated in events such as the quiz show, paper airplane contest, bridge building, house of cards competition, mystery problems, mousetrap racer and ping pong ball launch. Sound like fun? Team members proved that they are serious about fun by capturing 5th place in the competition. 141 “All right, gang, get in there and find those polkilotherms!” shouted Mrs. Arnold to her Nature Sleuth, Junior Varsity, and Varsity Squads as they began their scavenger hunt. This 11 member, 1 alternate team participated in the Ecology Meet held on May 12th at Berlin Reservoir in Deerfield. Ohio. Team Captain, Brad Lisko and his crew participated in a scavenger hunt and a poster contest in which the Junior Varsity Squad captured 1st prize. Each squad participated in 2 other selected ecology- related events. Members included high school students and grade school students and were coached by Mrs. Arnold.
