CLASS WILL Friends, making a will is a serious matter, and the Class of 1957 has given a great deal of consideration of the preparation of this will. To the incoming Seniors we bequeath our position as leaders in the Davenport School. While they cannot hope to attain the heights we have reached, we wish them well in their undertaking. Were it possible, we would leave to them the ability to do as nobly as we have done. They ve our sincere good wishes, and we are sure that these, coupled with memory of our accomplishments, will carry them far on the road to ccess. To Sharon Knobell we bequeath the privilege of singing at the top of her lungs whenever the school has an assembly period, a privilege which heretofore belonged to Elaine Meszaros, a memeber of this class. To Myron Meszaros we bequeath the fun of running up two flights of stairs without stopping. These have been the exclusive rights of James Sather and Clarence Jermstad, members of the senior class. To Ethel Mark we bequeath the responsibility of keeping those around hereiamused, whether in class or assembly. This has been the duty of Jean Brimer, and she has done it well, inasmuch as commencement puts an end to such activity the responsibility is left to Sharon Knobel with the hope that she may be able to carry on successfully without being the wrath of a teacher down upon her head. To Myron Meszaros we bequeath frequent visits to the principal's office, up to this moment the favorite resting place of Elaine Meszaros. While others have been called to the sacred shrine occasionally, Janice Kittelson has gone more than anyone else, and she cheerfully relinquishes that pleasure to Sharon Knobel. To all students in Davenport High we bequeath the love of knowledge which should be a part of every life, the attitude of cooperation and helpfulness which do so much to make school days brighter for both pupils and teachers. C LASS HIST ORY After twelve wonderful years we must part with the many fine friends we have made. In years to come we will remember every incident that added pleasure to our school days. In 1945, we entered The Davenport grade school together. Q , . .1 ,.. I We have had a few additions but they have dropped out before -V 'y completing high school Our teachers in the lower grades were Mrs Perry Miss X . . . xp 'Q in ll . . 1 + s 3' Lybeck, Miss Huus, Mrs. Strommie, Mrs. Hahn, Miss Nannenga, 4 and Mr. Starin. Our high school teachers were Mr. Sannes, Mr. Bartz, Mr. and Mrs. Parry, Mrs. Jackson, and Mr. Anderson. CLASS PRCPHECY We three alumni of Davenport High School met in avenport on August 20, 1966. We bought a Golden Cadillac from the Davenport Cadillac Company, and set forth. As we journeyed across country we stopped in to see James Sather who is mayor of Woods. As we got there he was looking over the city to see what improvements could be made. He asked us to come to his house for lunch and he would give us the key for the city but we decided to journey on as we wanted to stop and see Elaine Meszaros, Principal of School District 59. As we arrived at the school we saw that the United States Secretary of Education was studying E1aine's modern school methods. In her large school, text books have been ruled out and studying is done by television. She asked us to stay and meet her husband who is a movie director and would be flying in from Leonard the next day where the famous Sand Hi11's movie was being produced. But we cou1dn't because we had to be home in a short time. As we entered Davenport we went to Central City Hospital to see Jean Briner, Head Nurse. We didn't get to talk to her because she was busy giving the orders of the other day to day nursesg but we did meet her husband, Dr. R. C., who is Chief Surgeon. As we were driving about the city we ran into Clarence Jermstad who was just leaving on a second trip in his space ship which he had been instrumental in creating. He was saying good bye to his wife and seven children. We were lucky in seeing him just before he left. Our last stop was at the Swan Club where Janice Kittelson was an entertainer. We stayed and had our dinner and watched the floor show which was very exciting. ,How happy we were to have seen the former upper classmen from Davenport High School. --.-.:.. Marion Plath The second year is drewing to s close. This class of Sophomores is one to be remembered by the future students of D. H. S. They have an enviable record in sports and other school activities. As far as scholastic standing goes, there has always been a high number of Sophomore students on the honor roll. They have a good start towards their success in life, and we vish them the very best of luck in their coming years at Devonport High School and throughout the re- mainder of their lives! rf!
