SOPHOMORE CLASS HISTORY Well that day early 1n September way back 1n 1954 had finally come the day we were to enter Danvllle H1gh School We were a group of worr1ed curlous and half scared potent1al students of the arts and SCICHCCS entermg the bu1ld1ng wh1ch was to house our ambrtlons m1stakes and achlevements of the next three years For a t1me we were habltual offenders of the laws of our new home walk1ng 1n the wrong d1rect1on forgett1ng our locker numbers barg1ng 1nto the wrong rooms trymg to change classes at the first bell need we go on979 And l1ke all underclassmen we env1ed the hrgh and m1ghty sen1ors s1tt1ng supreme up rn the peanut gallery At our first assembly we were welcomed by Mr Mensch whose under stand1ng and guldance w1ll long be remembered by all of us He then mtro duced to us our adv1sor Mr Warr1ngton who was to gu1de us through the ensuxng years As our first project as a class we elected the follow1ng officers Robert Weaver Presxdent Ruth Messersm1th V1ce Presxdent Vera Woodruff Trea surer Charlotte Wray Secretary and Paul Lechner H1stor1an Among our act1v1t1es of that first year were a successful cake sales cam paxgn resultlng ln the 1n1t1al supplement to the ever important treasury a talent show for assembly wh1ch under the very capable superv1s1on of Mrs Laubach was greatly apprec1ated by the ent1re student body and the selectlon of our class rlngs wh1ch w1ll be a last1ng remembrance of our h1gh school days year and eagerly looked forward to the next step on our ladder of educat1on Sophomore H1stor1an PAUL C LECHNER Class of 1957 JUNIOR CLASS HISTORY Well we re almost there only one more rung to go on our ladder of educa txon under the leadersh1p of our capable class adv1sor Mr Warrington Wxth full recogn1t1on of our respons1b1l1t1es we selected five of our fellow classmates to lead us Presrdent D1ck Johns Vxce Pres1dent Ronnle Shultz Treasurer D1Ck Hartman Secretary Nancy Bush and H1stor1an janxce Shultz We d1dn t have long to walt unt1l our anx1ous moment came the arrrval of our class rmgs' We had a wonderful t1me show1ng them off for a day or two after whrch many were returned for adjustments When they came back not many wore thelr own anyway One of the chlef ways of meet1ng expenses during our Jun1or year was the sellmg of candy durmg noon hours and durmg school 3Ct1Vltl6S W1th every one s help our candy sales were a huge success At the F Q Hartman F1eld 1n December of 55 we had a class get to gether ln the form of a wexner roast It was a brtter cold n1ght and Ruhl s orchestra made real cool musrc Many attended and had a wonderful time After weeks of arrangmg and plann1ng our b1g n1ght came on May ll 1956 we gave the annual prom The theme was The Sta1rway to the Stars Beautlful gowns starry skxes cherry and apple blossom scents and the wonder ful musxc of Rudy Gelnett and h1s Orchestra made our evemng and our Jumor year one of marvelous memor1es Jumor H1stor1an JANICE SHULTZ Class of 1957 30 Y - . , Y 5 Y S . , . y . , t . . . ! 7 1 - v - Y ' Y . , .
