The Clarion 58
In this space age of 1968, our class once again got together, but this time
on the moon. Ten years have brought about many changes, so while the rest
of the good ole '58 class flies in, let's take a few moments for a quick survey.
KEITH BECK, farming on earth, is still speeding, but now with a jet propelled
tractor. LINDA HAMMOND looks very tired. Guess it's hard work taking
care of a 'Parrish." Here comes another, MARTY KOONS on a cloud. Last
year he broke his own record while being a motorcycle daredevil at the
World's Fair. Here are, or were, two friends, SHEILA WORKMAN and
IEANNIE SMITH. Both are candidates for Miss Outer Space this year. Tough
luck girls, only one can win. LARRY STIMPERT. looking very confused, is
still having trouble making up his mind.
A giggle! That's DOROTHY LONEY. She now supplies stories for the
comic strips. Riding the "Big Bear" comes IERRY BROWN now universally
known big game hunter. SAUNDRA STRINGFELLOW is looking very satisfied.
At last she has found what she's been looking for. Ouch! Here's MARY
BLUBAUGH with a scalpel and saw, just in case. SLASOPORP . . . that's a new
word in IUDY KREIMES' dictionary. Used backwards it relieved aging girls
minds. And here comes Professor GILLESPIE, with a group of students around
him. Can't understand why he's so popular. I see JUDY YOUNG made it
even if she is busy being married to an All-American football star and raising
little stars. BILL NEIDERHOUSER is looking very worried. He still doesn't
have a patent on his new invention, how to get work done easier with less
The strains of an angel singing? No, but it's GRETCHEN MAVIS, who now
is a well known soloist in the Spaceopolitan Opera Company. Watch out girls,
here comes CHICK DURBIN. He's still looking for THE girl. All dressed in
green is BETTY STROUSE, adviser of the Iupiter Girl Scout troop No. X-1.
Who's doing all that climbing? It's IAYNE NYHART, using "Jacobs"
ladder as a means of getting here. Good thing she is a nurse also. Here is a
little bit of the good old-fashioned spirit. IVA McCLAIN is still sticking to her
"Carr" rather than going for these new inventions.
Ah, how lovely the sound of CHARLES TREEN's horn. After his last
laboratory experiment he got transferred to a higher position. IUNE CARR
is very proud. She is married to a man who has the most common name in
the United States. Wow! Here is FAYE SMITH, modeling bathing suits for
the Dears 6. Doebuck Co., the company that gives you the most of the
dressed for the least. In khakis and panama hat is ROSE FINAN, now a
missionary to the darkest part of Saturn. And here comes the popular BOB
RIDGEWAY, known as Selvis Gresly, the "old-favorites" singer. Very
embarrassed is LARRY SNIVELY, for he is the well known authority on
IOE BANBURY, BOB SHULTZ, and BOB PIAR have gotten togther and
formed the "Tripp1e Dipper" Ranch. CORA DURBIN is a little late, but with
little et ceteras around, it's understandable. Who is this? Why it's our faithful
old cheerleader, LINDA DURBIN. Now she is leading cheers being a famous
actress in Hillywood, Mars. Zoom! Was that a meteor, or PAUL DEVORE,
the Olympic Champion runner? Blond and sophisticated, arriving in a gold
aircillac, is ELAINE EDGAR, president of the Venus Sorority. MARILYN
