FROSH FOOTBALL The Freshmen team ' s 5-1-3 record was good enough to take second place in SAL play. The Spar-Babes started slowly tying San Dimas 0-0 and San Gabriel 14-14. Then league play began with a convincing 34-0 victory over Ganesha. But the Spar-Babes couldn ' t maintain the streak and tied Pomona 0-0. The following week they picked up and beat Montclair 26-6. The streak continued as Garey fell 23-0, and Upland bowed out 20-12. The streak ended when the Spar-Babes met Don Lugo. It was a close loss, the final score being 12-24. The final game came against Claremont. The Spar-Babes pulled it out 20-17. They were coached by Mike Noonon, Steve Du Rousseau and Gary Audi. The best offense award went to Joe Vigil while best defensive playr went to Scott Stanier. The overall Most Valuable Player was Scott Meyer.

SOPHOMORE FOOTBALL The Sophomore Team compiled a 7-2 Record and finished third in League. They began by defeating San Dimas 16 -6, San Gabriel 20-0 and Ganesha 19-0. Pomona faired little better losing 13-0. The first team to upset the Sophomores was Montclair. The game was close but ended 8-14. Damien began to recover and defeated Avia- tion 12-9. They then trounced Upland 47-7. Chi no, however, proved to be too much and the Sophomores lost 0-17. The Spartan Squad ended the season victoriously overpowering Claremont 20-13. The Offensive Most Valuable Player was awarded to David Weiss. Defensive honors went to Jerry Schlesinger and Greg Faust. The Most Improved award went to Tim Byrnes. The Spartans were coached by Dan Carroll, Head Coach Matt Kolodge, and Bill Korn. Sophomores get set to come on the field. jm: m i mm i ury, Jerry Schlesinger, Chuck Hyland, Coach Dan Carroll.
