The Spartiate, following along with the new look at Damien, has a fresh new look of its own. With the addition of a Journalism Class at Damien this year, the Spartiate benefited greatly. One of the changes in this year ' s Spartiate is the publishing company, now Yearbook House. SPARTIATE A major improvement this year was the addition of color throughout the annual. The snorts section was covered more thoroughly, as were activities and clubs. The staff worked long and hard in order to provide the student body with a superior annual.

DO JOB WELL Interclub Council in the time of its existence, and backed up Frank in all matters of school business. Danny Carroll, Treasurer, kept a record of all monies going into and leaving the treasury. Brian Maloney recorded minutes of all A.S.B. meetings as Secretary. One of the most successful projects of the A.S.B. was the free dance held March 3. This dance was the first of its kind: both admission and refreshments were free. A.S.B. Social Chairman, Larry Cronin, was in charge of the dance. He arranged all the details and everyone agreed that it was a fine success. The A.S.B. officers are elected officials, charged with representing the student bodv in school affairs. The 1968 A.S.B. officers have met their responsibilities. A.S.B. Along with the rest of Damien, the school newspaper had a new image. The name was changed to The Laconian , representing the place in which the Spartans had lived. The paper was published by a new company, greatly improving the ap- pearance. Editor-in-Chief Chris Miller, along with the rest of the staff worked long, hard hours to produce an excellent paper. Mr. Tonsing participated as an advisor, giving the staff an oppor- tunity to experience the learning process. The paper brought the news, both past and future, to the student body. The paner was also circulated among P.C. Girls ' . St. Lucy ' s, and the neigh- boring eighth graders. i 3 421 v €h 57
