% i Hey! I guess you probably know who I am, huh?! I mean. I've been around here for a while! As a matter of fact, that's the very reason that I wanted to show you Dale- ville High School the way I see it. It took me a long time to convince the staff to let me do this, but after all, I AM the oldest dude around here! I seen it all! You think Mrs. Waites and Mrs. Gallo have been here a long time — I've seen things that some students' par- ents did a long time ago (but we won't go into details right now.) I was here then. I'm here now, and I'm going to be here for a long time to come. Let's face it nobody knows Daleville High School the way I do. Yep! Some good stuff has happened here, and each year I see more and more exciting things. Why don't you flip the page and see what I mean. Well, it's the first day of school and Mrs. Kelly is true to form - trying to keep everyone quiet. What do you expect, though?! I mean, everyone is ex- cited and for good reason. These three are a very important part of Daleville High School and we wanted to show them just how much we appreciate them and their hard work. Mike Thomas This is the coolest guy in the book, besides me of course. Actually, we're quite a pair. In the past years at Daleville, I've always wanted to stay in the background until this year when I met Mike. He's my best friend. Nobody in this school knows me like Mike does. Even after a decision was made we weren't completely satisfied. As we were sitting around one day, we started talking about somehow tieing our mascot in with a theme. We decided to let an overlooked but important character tell you about Daleville High School. As this book progressed he started to mean more to us than just a mascot. Hawk has become a close friend that is trying to show us that we are losing our pride. And PRIDE is exactly what that hawk represents in Daleville High School whether it be in sports, music, ROTC, clubs, or just an ordinary student. But if you'll stop to Took you'll see he is fading away. The staff's goal was not only to bring you a great annual this year but to bring back Hawk and what he symbolizes before it was too late.
