School spirit started burning with a Bonfire where Coach Head intro- duced the football team. The Band played and everyone got fired up for the year 1980- 81. But that was just the beginning. The Pep Rallies were spectacular. The classes tried to out do each other for the Spirit Stick Award with different themes for each game. Some of the highlights of the pep rallies were the team being awarded Team of the Week by KMX and WOOF and the crowning of our Homecoming Queen. i DALEVILLE OFFERED Agribusiness Agribusiness was one of the new courses added to the Curriculum at Daleville this year. The new Vocational building and shop, which houses B.O.E. and D.E. classes, was finished in late September. The administration gave a student survey, which showed that approximately seventy-eight percent of the students preferred this course. One of the purposes of Agribusiness is to prepare students for employment and futher training in building construction and other related trades. The class deals with four basic subject areas: car- pentry, brick masonary, electrical work, and plumbing. The students were also exposed to some Agriculture. Not only did we add a new course, but we also expanded the school by building a Vocational building. The building houses the Agribusiness class, a workshop for the students, D.E. class and a B.O.E. class. The shop is equipped with various hand tools, welding equipment, and woodworking machinery. Since this was the first year Daleville has offered such a course, Alan Waters, the Agribusiness teacher, spent most of his time explaining the tools and tool safety, demonstrating their uses, and let- ting the students work with them. NEW COURSES £ Art And Mechanical Drawing This year Daleville added two new courses to the Curriculum, dealing with drawing. Art, taught by Lyster Nichols; and Mechanical Drawing, taught by Ricky Carlile. Art had an enrollment of 21 students whose work varied from sketching to oil painting, de- pending on their ability and experience. Mechanical Drawing had an enrollment of 10 students who learned to draw plans for houses, buildings, bridges and other structures, from all angles. These two courses were added as a result of a student survey conducted by Daleville’s Admin- istration. 5 DALEVILLE’S NEW LOOK! “WARHAWK COUNTRY” is what the embankment says. And that’s what the stadium was. The football players and cheerleaders, led by Coach Nichols, livened up the stadium with Warhawk banners and red-and-white painted steps. This is a prime example of the new spirit at Daleville High School. The Daleville football team had a new look for the 1980-81 season. The new look was a new Head Coach, Julius Head, and new Assistant Coach, Lester Nichols. Together Coach Head, Coach Nichols and the football team had an outstanding season. The band provided outstanding halftime entertainment.
