The mere name, Monte Carlo, brings to mind visions of royal- ty, enchantment, and fascination. Crewmembers of DALE experi- enced all of these and more in their four-day visit to the Principal- ity of Monaco. Everything about Monte Carlo contributes to its prestige and its reputation - a privileged geographic position, a mild and sunny climate, an intense cultural calendar, and its crowded historical past and dynamic population. The things to see and do in Monte Carlo appeared to be endless. Prom old Monaco, located 63 meters above sea level, crewmembers could contemplate the beauties of Monte Carlo and the Italian Riviera, to the Prince's Palace inhabited by Prince Rainier. A visit to Monte Carlo would not be complete without a visit to the Grand Casino, the true heart of the Principality, built in 1870. Upon departing Monaco each crewmember took with him a memory of a tiny charming nation backed by a thousand years of heritage and age-old traditions.
