HIGH SCHOOL Imagine Coach Perry Willis, Mrs. Elise Williams, Mrs. Sharon Dollar, and Mr. David Baker, along with other DHS graduates, cruising the “Three Pigs?” Or maybe Mrs. Mary Timberlake as Homecoming Queen of Auburn University? Better yet, Mrs. Iris Canady winner of State 4-H Dairy Foods Contest? How about Mrs. Margaret Caldwell and Mrs. Teresa Moncrief as cheerleaders, or Mrs. Raye Nell Benton as “Most Athletic?” Once, our teachers were students just like us, and their life then was admittedly different. “We were the first class to graduate on stage in the DHS auditorium,” Mr. Wyatt Davis, Math and History teacher, said. In the role of students, teachers’ behavior back in the “good ol’ days” wasn’t much different than now. “The most fun part of high school for me was getting out of school on ‘official cheerleading business’ to decorate the gym or auditorium for Friday morning pep-rallies!” said Mrs. Linda Davis, History teacher and head cheerleader in high school.
