SANDRA WALLACE Although they have taught at Dade only a short time, both these teachers have endeared themselves to all of us by their charming personalities and their willingness to help at any time. They have never been too busy to give us the help we needed when we needed it. To honor these two. the yearbook staff dedicates the 1967 WILDCAT to Mrs. Sandra 8 Wallace and Mrs. Rochelle Holcomb. Secretary Business Education The expanding Business Department is designed to prepare its students for today's world of business. New and modern equipment in the department ac- quaints students with business methods and creates a better understanding of business procedures and prob- lems. It is the aim of the department to prepare stu- dents to meet job standards by teaching necessary skills. MRS. Students work in crafts which teach them to use available materi- als creatively and to develop individual abilities. Band and Chorus train students vocally as well as instrumentally. Art is hard work and lots of fun. 12 Useful Arts Home Economics teaches girls to cope with the many problems that will face them as homemakers. They also become aware of the importance of a satisfying home life. The Industrial Arts department is designed for instruction in both shop and industrial arts classes. The department is equipped to teach sheetmetal work, leather craft, and other related courses. Girls learn about the new dishwasher. MRS. DONALD CHEATHAM M.Ed., University of Georgia French class makes posters for school project Listening to tapes in French aids in comprehension of the spoken language. Everybody has his own opinion of English. Four units of English are required for gradua- tion. Students learn better speaking habits and acquire a wider vocabulary. They are taught an appreciation of all types of literature, and they learn to think critically and objectively. French, which is the only foreign language taught at Dade, is recommended for college- preparatory students. French classes teach stu- dents to speak and read the language confidently and to understand it when it is heard. Mathematics In our way of life mathematics provides some foundations for much of our progress. Math classes increase students' ability to think with the ideas of mathematics, promote competence in mathematical understandings, and bring about an understanding of mathematical concepts and principles. Science Department Science classes at Dade help lead students into more advanced and specialized fields. Students learn scientific concepts and principles. They are taught to establish the scientific method of problem solving and to develop a scientific atti- tude. The library is a resource center of instructional materials for the entire school. The guidance department assists the pupil in understanding himself, and it helps acquaint the pupil realistically with his environment.
