I (vietowuC We, the 1962 Wildcat staff, hope that this annual will be- come one of your most prized possessions and that you may look back over the faded snapshots and remember the good old days at D. H. S. Our last year has been one filled with many experiences which we shall never forget. The joys, the sorrow, the fun, and the hard work - these are all part of our memories. Knowing that the key to success is enthusiasm, we have all wholeheartedly joined in to make this Wildcat one of the best ever. We feel that your satisfaction with this volume is our compensation, and with this thought, we proudly give you the 1962 Wildcat. THE WILDCAT Dade County High School Trenton, Georgia 1962 MR. W. K. EMERSON DetUc4tfic t We, the seniors, dedicate the 1962 Wildcat to a man whose untiring efforts have been of great value to us in leading us during our junior and senior years. He is the type of person who will always be your friend, if you will only let him. He is never too busy to listen to your problems, as long as you are sincere in telling him about them. We. the seniors, with great respect and deep ap- preciation dedicate the 1962 Wildcat to our friend, Mr. W. K. Emerson. Principal of Dade County High School. MR. CECIL McKAIG MR. ESTIL ROBINSON MR. GEORGE CARROLL MR. HERSCHEL DEAN MR. CLERON KYZER, Chairman MR. D. O. CHUMLEY, Superintendent MR. D. O. CHUMLEY Superintendent A.B., University of Chattanooga M. Ed.. University of Chattanooga MR. KERMIT WOOTEN Visiting Teacher B.S., University of Chattanooga Sccfe U tte tcCe it d xye It is my pleasure to join your parents, your teachers, and your friends in wishing each of you well in your future en- deavor. Your graduation is an important achievement, and should be used as a step toward greater ones. The great masses are not educated in the communist world. Only the selected few are permitted professional status. On the other hand, democracy is dependent upon the ed- ucation of the masses. In our democracy, you are the master of your own destiny by choice. May your meditations and future choices help you to better serve your God, your country, and yourself. MR. W. K. EMERSON Principal B. S., University of Chattanooga M. A.. George Peabody College MRS. EDITH MAHAN McKenzie Business College Secretary Through the cooperation of faculty and students, this annual has been produced with its record of the year's activities at Dade County High School. May you always remember that more has gone into the making of your school than bricks and mortar, than steel and concrete - that the lives of those who have worked and studied here have made and are making your school a LIVING insti- tution, that the pictures and the activities in this annual represent a part in the building of your school. Each stu- dent has made his particular contribution, and it is with the greatest pleasure that I congratulate each of you on your achievements here, wishing for you not merely suc- cess but happiness in the future. Mr. Lewis McBryar, Mayor of Trenton, signs Teach- ing Career Month Proclamation while FT A officers look on. s46tcvitie At the beginning of the fall school semester our club began a new year. New officers took charge; new mem- bers joined. All members of the FTA Club have shared in the work of the club. During American Education Week, November 5-11, each parent was invited to visit our school. We sent invitations home by the students and in addition we made personal telephone calls. During this week as a special project each teacher was presented an apple from the club. On the day the parents were to visit, FTA members served as hosts to welcome the parents. Not long after midterm all FTA members with a study hall were assigned a teacher to work for during that time. When teachers are needed and no substitute available, FTA members fill in. Some of the members grade papers or type tests for the teachers. We have strived to reach our goals through service to others.
