Little is known of their historical backgrounds. Some historians believe that the Seniors were shipwrecked and sought refuge at Dade High School in the fall of 1945. Their first year in this strange place was difficult, but somehow they lived through it. The second year was almost uneventful, but the third year proved very exciting. During that year the majority of the Seniors staged a series of strikes and a revolt against the Algebra teacher! After years of research and hard work, they decided to enjoy the fourth and most important year. But near the end of the year many became sad, especially those infested with love bugs. On May 22, 1950, the Seniors graduated to a higher level of civilization, leaving behind many artistic works, such as carvings on the desks, beautifully monogramed and autographed murals on the walls, and pictures of the teachers, which are really masterpieces. All these, they left for the enjoyment of the next generation. With this statement- ‘‘Good Luck Juniors!” CLASS PAOPHECy Of 1950 It is now the year of I960, and as I write my mind goes back to the year 1950, when all the Senior class was gathered together in OLD DADE HIGH SCHOOL. They were there mainly for the purpose of learning, loving, and leaving as soon as possible. From time to time I hear from those classmates, and I find that lone Bradford has retired to the top of Lookout Mountain, for the purpose of seeing what goes on in the valley below. Josephine Barton is still engaged. She believes in long engagements so she can get acquainted with her fiance. Deloris Buchanan has married and gone to the far off city of Chattanooga to live. Elsie and Martha Bible are married and raising their families where there’s plenty of food, in CLOVERdale. Virginia Blevins is still singing over WDXB, and has as the Master of Ceremonies, Jonny Wallen. Mickey Blevins has migrated to Texas, where there's plenty of room to continue his 4-H club work, and is running a Catus Farm. Bernice Cristoopher has took charge of the Trenton postoffice, in the hope that some desirable male will come along. Clifford and Clifton Cagle are running a bus line from Rising Fawn to Chatt. for female passengers only. 9 Mary Jo Carver has recently been made Superintedent of Nurses at Kill or Cure General Hospital. Wendell Chambers is the nation’s top farmer, and lately has been singing, The Farmer Takes a Wife.” Frances Chambers, is running a florist shop. Her favorite flower is the bachelor’s button. Carl Cross is working for the Animal Railroad Company. He’s chief engineer of “Mule Train.” Billie Ruth Durham was recently given a screen test for the picture, The Red- headed Stepchild,” at the Top Play Theater. Mabel Davis has adve'rtised for a husband with the following requirements: Not under 19 and not over 90. Kathleen Hughes has retired as a secretary. She’s finally landed the boss. Louise Howard has opened a mar riage bureau in Rising Fawn. Her partner is Scott Lynn. Katherine Hawkins has put the following sign on her Seamstress Shop: “Will mend anything from hose to a broken heart.” Lois Holland is married and living with her sister-in-law, the former Jo Rice. Bernard Keith has climbed the ladder to success. He’s washing the windows of the Empire State building and has finally got to the top. Dixie Kizziah decided to be a spinster. She runs a shop for spinning thread. Robert Lawson is now chief campaign manager for Harry S. Truman, with Jimmy Price as assistant mud-slinger. . Ruth Morgan has changed her name to Martin. Jimmy is responsible. Anna Marie Moore isn’t a Moore any more. She is married and resides on some large hill called Sand Mountain. Billie Jean Reese is at the head of a rolling pin assembly line. Her husband is at the receiving end. Geraldine Smyth has just received the Pultzer prize in poetry. Her head is so big now that she has to have her hats custom made. Nioma Steel and Wildarae Williams are running a beauty shop in Rising Fawn. They have a Permanent business. Helen Shankles now has a modeling job. She works for the recently established modeling clay factory in Trenton. Bill Tucker has moved to California, Where he sells suntan lotion to the bathing beauties. He accommodates his customers by a free application. Gaye Turner is now giving concerts in Carnegie Hall. This helps strengthen her voice for selling papers on Times Square. Betty Wallen is living in married bliss. All her troubles are little ones. Freddie Wheeler finally ran her man down and pronounced the fatal vows of Wedlock. She holds the key too. And at the last of the list of classmates, I hear that Virginia York has advertised as a permanent housewife to a wealthy bachelor. 10 Betty Stephens Junior Wells Athene Holtzehower Patsy Renfroe Kathleen Morrison A.
