The team worked very hard at this strenuous sport. ecause of a rugged schedule and persistent injuries, the boys idn't do as well as they would have liked. The greatest impediment to a more successful seas n was the lack of balance. The squad was led by senior Roger ichardson and junior Randy Strachan. If one measures success by a team's record, Everest can't be considered successful .in the past baseball season. Three wins in twelve games isn't a good record. Yet, the team did show marked improvement as seen by the improved scores. Due to a lad: of depth at pitching, it took the team several weeks to get started. Once the pitching started to improve, so did the team's play. The bright spot of the season was the desire and drive of the team. Even when behind, the boys hung in there. If this desire is present in the 1967 baseball team, Everest can look forward to more success. The 1966 track team's season was successful. Although the team lacked the true balance needed to be successful, the boys made up for it through sheer determination. Having no really good sprinters, the team had to rely upon its relay teams. These were the real strong points of the whole team. In the beginning of the season Coach Howard Stiehm knew that the tea.m was hurting for distance men, but he was also aware of a fine group of underclassmen. It was these under- classmen who were the basis of the team.
