Forensics is designed to encourage stu- dents to develop their speaking and oral read- ing abilities. Students may try their skill in one of a variety of areas-original or non- original oratory, public address, four minute speech, declamation, interpretive reading of poetry or prose, and play reading. Anyone may enter a forensic contest provided he agrees to practice with his coach. Students have an opportunity to compete in local, sub- district, district, and state competition. Stu- dents in interscholastic competition receive participation certificates.
