Its purpose is to promote a friendly interest and appreciation of Ger- man-both of the civilization and language. To be eligible for membership in the Ger- man Club, a person must have completed one and one half semesters of the first year study of German, and have expressed a de- sire to take a second year of German the fol- lowing year. This, of course, includes any person who is taking the second year of German, or who has completed this study. The German Club is relatively new and therefore has not sponsored either a dance or a sale of any sort. However, its main ob- jective this year is to start a scholarship fund for some student wishing to go on to study German. ROW THREE: Randy Strachan, Suzanne The Spanish Club of D. C. Everest High School is a club whose purpose is to promote a friendly interest and appreciation of Spanish -the language and the civilization. The person desiring membership in the Spanish Club must be a current student of Spanish and a BH average must be main- tained in Spanish by the student. Also, any student who has completed a study of Spanish and has been an active member of Spanish Club may remain in the club as an Honorary member. Exotic Spanish food was on the menu for the banquet. Reynolds, Colleen Sonntag, Carlo Litzer, Roberta Gitchel, Kris Olson, Linda Siferd, Kathy Wojicechowski, Cindy Roeske, Susan Fritz, Linda Setula. ROW FOUR: Tim Luetschwager, Gary Kaminski, David Werner, Casey Hen- dersen, Douglas Tietz, Larry Driscoll, Gordy Kosobucki, Jim Werner, Norman Rozek, Doug Shidell, Jeff Geiger, Fred Decker, Harvey Kurtz. The Spanish Club annually sponsors the Twirp Dance-a girl-ask-boy danc e-the theme is centered on something Hispanic. Also a Christmas party, initiation and Banquet are held every year. The members in Spanish Club have fun and learn such things as Spanish songs, dances, customs, etc. This year the club officers were: President, Nancy Baranowskig Vice-President, Lou Ann Duranceaug Secretary, Harvey Kurtz. EA COUT HIP D. C. Everest has three active Sea Scout Ships. This organization is part ofthe explorer scout program B. S. A. In 1965, the D. C. Ship's received a national rating of National Flagship . This is the first time this honor has been won by any scout organization in the Samoset Council. It was also the only Flagship rating given in region seven, which takes in four mid-western states. The local program is built around a search and rescue program through the Marathon County Sheriffis Department. lt also has a sailing program and owns three sail boats. In 1965 the ships were also used by the Wis- consin Conservation Department and ap- peared in the State American Legion Parade at Waukesha. The units are sponsored by Roy Drew American Legion Post of Rothschild and have a compliment of six officer, three junior grade officers, and six men.
