Its members include all seventh grade band students, who meet twice each week for rehearsals. During the rehears- als much time is spent on the basic fundamentals of good ensemble playing. In addition to the rehearsals, each mem- ber receives one small group lesson each week. The highlight of the year for the Beginning Band is its participation in the Band-O-Rama. 61

The Cadet Band makes several public appearances each year. It provides music for some basketball games, performs on the Band-O-Rama and Spring Concert pro- grams, and participates in the Wisconsin Valley Music Contest. Public appearances include the Christ- mas concert at school and the same concert presented at the First American National Bank. The spring schedule involves the choir in the concert events contest, vocal and in- strumental concert and the graduation cere- monies. A letter is given to all seniors who have participated in the choir and the other vocal classes for a total of four years.
