The Cadet Band includes all eighth and ninth grade band students, and is directed by Mr. Helke, The band meets twice each week for rehearsals. During the rehears- als much time is spent on the preparation of band ar- rangements. In addition to the rehearsals, each member receives one small group lesson each week. The Cadet Band makes several public appearances each year. It provides music for some basketball games, performs on the Band-O-Rama and Spring Concert pro- grams, and participates in the Wisconsin Valley Music Contest. Some of its members also participate in the Solo- Ensemble cont est. 60

Everest Senior High Band, under the direction of Mr. Charles Emerson, is composed of members of the sophomore, junior, and senior classes. The band participates in the Wisconsin Valley Music Contest held in the spring. A majority of the band also participates in the District Solo-Ensemble Contest. The band is an active organization parti- cipating in various activities throughout the year. In addition to the rehearsals, each mem- ber receives one small group lesson each week. The highlight of the year for the Beginning Band is its participation in the Band-O-Rama. 61
