1041397 Chet, he went on to Washington D. C. There he met the World famous wife of the newly elected president, Adlai Stevenson Jr., who before her recent marriage, was our old pal, Bertha Mae Kattnig. While visiting her he heard that Helen Millard was now employed as Bertha's private nurse. As he was preparing to leave the scene of the White House, he met Albert Kidder, a special agent for the F. B. I., busy in- vestigating a case on communist spies. He explained his work to Tom, who then moved on to New York City, where he heard that Sally Littrell was now appearing on television. She had taken over where Lucille Ball had quit, and was enjoying her job im- mensely. Also in New York, he saw Odetta Knuth, now the head fashion designer at Saks Fifth Avenue. She had finally made it after years of hard work. As Tom turns from his telescope, his chief assistant, Wayne Vahldick, brings him bad news about their latest experiment on an easier meansof'transportation between Earth and the moon. He went to work with memor1esof'his old days at C. C. H. S. running through his mind. He knew that his friends were successful and without them, the world would be incomplete. .Sznior Cfadd Jwdfory The history of the Senior Class began in the school year of l9h9-1950 with an enrollment of thirty students. In November we lost one of our classmates, Luz Sanches, but gained another in March, Nancy Bennett. We lost another pupil when Virginia Martinez, left us. One day toward the last day of school we teamed up with the Juniors and enjoyed an afternoon party together. And so ended our Freshmen year. As Sophmores, we started out with twenty-nine students, Frances Oelrich left us after a few weeks, but we were fortunate enough to gain Helen Millard, so our attendance stood the same. Thanks to Mr. Manatos, our sponsor, we presented two very successful assemblies, both original ideas of Mlkesn.

Nancy Bennett moved to Denver, Kathryn Ryan moved to Cripple Creek and Ray Ryan being occupied with a good steady job did not return to school. we also lost Edward Bates. We then started to work on the Junior-Senior Prom, super- vised by Mrs. Neef and Mrs. Marley. Our theme was 'Moon Light and Roses . To end our Junior year, we had a picnic at the Oak Creek Picnic Grounds. Afterwards, a few people drove home through Canon City. At the start of our Senior year we had 23 pupils left. Of course we initiated the Freshmen and we might add, they were swell sports. The night after initiation we gave a party in honor of the Freshmen and a few weeks later we had another party to use our left over supply of party food. We plan on a Senior trip the first week in May. Baccalau- reate services will be held May 17th and following week will be taken up by Class Night and other activities. Graduation exercises will be held on the night of May 22nd. And though you have heard us gripe and groan for four years, we all know that the four years we spent here have been very happy years indeed. h . gy ix -X A v f
