The Deutscher Verein or German Club is an educational organization designed to bring a little of the German gemijtlichkeit to students of the language. Club meetings, held on Thursdays, prove to be interesting as well as educational because of the planning of the faculty adviser, Mr. Loan, who helps make the club the fun that it is. llEUT'UHEli EREIT lll.'CllS..'IU CLUB For interesting, informal discussions and heated debates, the Discussion Club is tops. Another fine year began under the skillful direction of Miss Magee and members elected Efrem Sigel and Herbert Levy as president and vice-president respectively. One can learn the art of public speaking by coming to 305 on a Wednesday afternoon. To help the students who study Spanish at Curtis to understand and know more about the language and customs of Spanish speaking countries, the Curtis Spanish Club meets each Thursday under the apt direction of Mr. Pardo. Activities this year included a Spanish newspaper, a trip to the city, and 'choral work. LUL UU UUI TAIIUHIL LE UEPICLE FRANQAI Under Miss Grannis' supervision, the French Club meets twice a month. Devoted to increasing our understanding and appreciation of the French language and customs, this club publishes the French newspaper La Petite Voix, an outstanding student pub- lication. At meetings, films are occasionally shown, lively discussions are held, and trips to the city are planned. The Art Club was re-established last term under the direction of Mr. Dieffenwirth. During the year it completed many projects, among which was making this year's beau- tiful decorations for the foyer at Christmastime. At regular meetings the members can advance in a particular artistic field such as sculpture. Curtis seems to have several budding sculptors! ABT CLUB BIOLOGY CLUB The Biology Club, after an absence of several years, returned to the Curtis scene this year. Organized by students interested in the biological sciences, the club's activities included trips to the Army laboratories in Manhattan, the Staten Island Zoo, and the U. S. Public Health Service Hospital. Of course, it dissected a frog! Mrs. Speight is the club's lively and well-liked faculty adviser.
