The members learn the fundamentals and finer points of the game under the direc- tion of Miss Martin and Miss Wong. The upper term club is for older girls who nnone, Joan Musinski, Felice Fischer, Marie Slomski, t, Laura Kennedy, Lois Garner. THIRD ROW: Joan Sandra Larsen, JoEIlen Pierce, Diana Rc-gr-nthal, you, Lorraine O'Neal, Judith Pickell, Carla Johnson, want to learn the game, play it, and improve their technique. Tournaments are held and the outstanding players can earn letters and awards., Competition is keen and a good time is had by all. This year the girls' Badminton Club met weekly after the eighth period. Under the direction of Miss Mather, the faculty adviser, the girls, armed with shuttle- cocks, nets, and racquets, assembled in the gym to learn the skills of the game. After they had practiced several weeks and had done their best to perfect their tech- niques, a tournament was held. The winning team was given credit toward a Block C.

SECOND ROW: Michael Brennan, Monika Schlaegel, Merry Newman, Kathleen Skeele, Carol Hunsdorfer, Lynne Braisted, Patricia McGowan, Rhoda With Mr. Goldin at its helm as faculty adviser, the Biology Honor Society held monthly meetings this year. B. H. S. is one of the oldest organizations at Curtis. Originally started under the leadership of Miss Blondel, a former chairman, Mr. Goldin became its faculty adviser in 1944. This organi- zation is unique in that its meetings are held at night. Membership is selective: only students who have received a ninety percent average or better for two terms of biology and submit a project Rahn, Barbara Barack, Ellen White, Mary Ellen Smith, Jean Leonard. The purpose of the Biology Honor Society is to enable students who have an interest in biology to increase their knowledge in that field. For this purpose, guest speakers are invited to address the group, and tield trips and other ac- tivities are planned. The olticers for the fall term were Thomas Selden, president, Arthur Berger, vice-president, Annette Marotta, treasurer, and Ethel Doudine, secretary.
