At meetings held atter school, they learn and discuss various aspects ot mathematics which would not normally be covered in the classroom. They enter and compete in various contests, notably the University ot Santa Clara competition and the Mathematical Association ot America test, A tevv members are presently attending a seminar every other Vlfednesday at the Unrversity ot Santa Clara tor students who excel in the mathematical arts. On February 23, 25, and 26, Cupertino High School witnessed and participated in its tirst taculty play, The Night ot January lo . The setting was a courtroom and action centered around a murder trial-with the iury being selected from the audience, Mr. Coleman Jones, as district attorney, convinced the iury to conyict Karin Andre, played by Mrs. Kathleen l-lulburd, on the 25th. On the other tvyo days the detense attorneys, Mr. Paul Licciardello and Miss Delia Ybarra, emerged with acquittals. The cast also included actors Bryld, Friend, lmmitt, Boggie, Booth, Ryan, Gober, Simas, Fernandez, White, and Cuneo, actresses Jepsen, OBrien, Cundith, Sweeney, Palma, Jensen, Ross, Stark, and Rowe, The proceeds from the Sunday matinee were used to supplement the Parent-Faculty Club Scholarship Fund. Sophologists' Society As their name would imply, Sophologists' Society is dedicated to learning, By attendance at and subse- quent discussion ot various plays, concerts, lectures, etc., in the area, they hope to extend their vistas of knowledge. Attendance varies from activities such as lectures by J. B, Rhine, noted parapsychologist, to traveling to plays given by the American Conservatory Theatre, not to mention atter-event tribal rites at Blums for the inner man. ' Medical Club The Cupertino Medical Club, nearly 25 strong, partici- pated in numerous activities designed to acquaint members with various aspects of the medical protes- sion. Hospital facilities in both Santa Clara and San Francisco were visited, highlighted by the annual Health Careers Conference, which was held at the San Jose City College this year. During Christmas, stuffed animals were presented to the bed-ridden children at two hospitals and monthly visitations were planned to rest homes for the elderly.
