20 Dr. J.M. Boswell President’s Message I want to commend the members of the 1960 annual staff for the work they have done in assembling and editing the material for the 1960 Lamp. As we enter the third year of our four-year program and contemplate the graduation of our first four-year class in 1961, we find that much has been accomplished in the past year and that there is much to be done. As the college faces the challenge of meeting the requirements of a four-year program, we have found our students enthusiastic about the program and have found them to be loyal, helpful, and cooperative in this as in other things. Moving into the four-year program not only demands additional responsibility on the part of administrative and staff members, but also demands increased responsibility and maturity in thought and action on the part of the members of the student body. The college has enjoyed the reputation of doing excellent work with its students on the junior college level and anticipates turning out four-year graduates who will do honor to their chosen professions and who will assume responsibility in community leadership in whatever places they may reside. The yearbook is one of the landmarks designating our achievements and progress. The administrative staff and the academic staff of the college are most appreciative of the contribution made by the annual staff to the college program.

What has she done? A simple question? True Yet in our answer. Many words come through. What has she done? Shall we name diverse deeds? She gave herself. To fill our many needs. The many classes she taught with willingness. The parties that sprang from paper to hours of fun at the touch of her hand. The many from all over this area who still find her a joy to know. The many “intangible bricks” of influence, love, understanding and concern that have helped build our school — she has piled these one upon another. The guidance of her discipline when one failed to do her best. . The trips she chaperoned with fun always going along. . The Christian character she portrays in her church and makes evident in all her life. What has she done? Can one doubt what we know? She gave herself. Does this not clearly show? What has she done? Amid this strenuous Life? Can one not see How she brings Joy to strife? What has she done? For those who from her seek? She gives herself. And thus her life does speak. Who 1s this one? Who now deserves our praise? It is “Miss Mac” And our tribute we raise. 19
