The Science Department FOR ALL his somewhat bantering manner. however. Tom shares with the Corps a true re- spect for science. As he tells Vi, there prob- ably is no more popular course on the campus than chemistry and physics. Nor is this solely attributable to the fact that the science courses obviously are practical, offering a foundation for material success. That many students be- come interested in science for its own sake is amply demonstrated by the voluntary and cn- thusiastic activities of Mr. Seehausen's Science Club, which meets on Friday evening and at any other time that individuals are free to pur- sue their hobby. Potter Battery Supply Officer George S. Hoover Battery Personnel Officer john S. Borges Second Lieutenants Aurelio F. Concheso Mark C. Dull First Sergeant Axel E, Strauch 5 WHILE it is difficult to do justice to Battery B's athletic ac- complishments, Tom tries. lt's really no wonder that they're good, he states. ln the first place, B Battery has Charley Brooks, probably the best athlete in the school, and a lot of others who come close, like Sumner, Hoover, and Alban. Then their counselor is Major Mars, who was All-Eastern end his senior year at Brown. Somebody told me he hit three home runs in one game against Dartmouth, too. pu- YES, but how do your famous athletes do in their studies? asks Vi, a little skeptically , A . All right! replies Tom, You couldn't have picked a better spot to ask that question. Main Barrack here placed six or seven men in Cum Laude this year, four lrom Battery B: Concheso, Marshall, Hoover, and Sumner. The last two are the athletes whom I mentioned a minute ago. And this Battery tied for the Academic Bowl last year while winmng the athletic Plaque. BATTERY COUNSELORS Counselor Major john R. Mars Health and Athletics Mr. William P.
