X-f A-gi HERE throughout the winter months we worked and played, ANY Friday night of the ear the ym M WE COULD probably linger about the Chapel throughout this whole intro- duction, but we have other places to go. Leaving the center of our spiritual 11 ' il life, we push on to the Rec Building and the Little Gym. Here we passed the best part of each day, recreation period. The thudding of punching bags, the counting as the wrestling squad Went through calisthenics, the whistle on the basket- ball courts, and the shout of Stroke! of the varsity coxswain, all these sounds and calls to action meant that cadets were preparing for contests, either company or I4 -.N 1s-2v'f,3fuf- , .An .

WE OF the First Class have watched this splendid building rise. I PHE FOLLOWING morning there took place the first of many memorable serv- ices Which We have attended in our Memorial Chapel. While the Rt. Reverend Her- man R. Page, Bishop of the Diocese of Northern Michigan, preached the sermon of dedication, we sat awed and impressed by the words, the beauty of the building, and the noble signifance of the service and the structure alike. Eloquent speech, fig, inspiring music, and beautiful architecture combined to urge on us the mean- iliifnflf ing of the words which appear above the entrance, Haec Signa Duci Metaeque 1-5 Accipimusf' We do indeed acknowledge these symbols as our guide and goal. 5 dz 'S 2' ,X x, er- ,..2 4,

AT THE Thanksgiving Bali we suspended activities to pay tbtt fthf ff tbllt I h ri ue ooneo e ines oo a eams in Cu ver's istory. varsity. Then there were the all-important weekends when all the working out, run- ning, practicing, sparring, and sweating started to pay off. Companies clashed in the morning in basketball. Boxers put on their show in the afternoon. While the grapplers applied the tricks of their trade, the swimmers in the pool splashed to vic- tory. In the Little Gym the varsity basketball team competed with squads from the basketball-crazy neighboring towns of Indiana and with other worthy midwestern opponents. No, we haven't forgotten that semester tests also took place in the Rec Building. We would just rather not talk about them. Instead we shall reminisce on the infinitely more pleasant dances which we have enjoyed on these hardwood floors. 15
