I Ring For The Freedom That They, Whose Names Are Here Inscribed, Fought So Valiantly To Defend. s,.QQ N MAY 12, 1944, the Directors of The Culver Edu- cational Foundation resolved to approve a fund-raising campaign for a Memorial Chapel. In doing so, the Board paid tribute to the devotion of the Culver Legion and the Culver Father's Association, the organizations which had initiated the proposal. Likewise the Board recognized the appeal of such a memorial and expressed its anticipation of the inspiring and spiritual influence which will be ex- erted by a Memorial Chapel on each generation of cadets. . 131' 'A Pj, s

Tirelessly the Culver Legion, the Culver Fatherls Association, and the Culver Summer Schools Alumni Association have labored to make possible this tribute to the men of Culver who fought in World War II, and to do particular honor to those of our comrades who laid down their lives. Over four thousand people have contributed to the fund. From every state in the country and from ten for- eign lands have come the gifts necessary for the realization of this noble project. At Homecoming last fall we of the present Corps assisted at the lay- ing of the cornerstoneg and throughout the year we have watched the building evolve and grow. It has represented to us a concrete expression of the spiri- tual hopes and values which must triumph if the fu- ture is to possess meaning. We take this opportunity of thanking all those who have made real this sym- bol of the finest aspirations for which Culver stands.
