Stage, Shops, Discussions Brought New Interests ALL the worId's a stag Ex'e1'y Wednesday afternoon and at a good many other times besides, most of us joined our hobby groups to talk German, listen to music, weld and solder metal, or rehearse for a play. Chiefly our problem consisted in deciding upon the activity we wished to pursue. So much was available, and time was so short. From our hobby programs we have gained a great deal of enjoyment and a lot more as well, In a pleasant way they have supplemented our Work in the classroom and laboratory. They have given us an opportunity to use our hands, to develop confidence in ourselves, and to broaden our outlook. In short, they have proved a very impor- tant part of our educational development, but they have also provided a lot of fun and relaxation. WHERE patie ounts for as rnuch as inspiration, 15

Intangible Values Became Real and Meaningful ,iid W Am-en? fii't V COLD and hard as the winter was this year, it displayed a certain grotesque sense of humor. WHEN the temperature was verging on zero outside, the Shack offered a warm refuge where we could meet our friends and thor- oughly enjoy ourselves. I6 n a general way, that's how we have spent our year at Culver. By study, by the exercise of discipline and leadership, by hard physical train- ing, and by participation in liberalizing experien- ces, we have tried to get ourselves ready for that uncertain future we mentioned earlier. We have had a lot of fun as well. In addition, we have learned the importance of things that cannot be seen, touched, bent, tested, or averaged into qual- ity points. Such matters as personal friendships, school and organizational spirit, class pride, in- tangible values, we have found to be just as real as, and possibly more important than, the bricks, walks, grades, and chevrons that outwardly com- prise Culver. Let us turn for a few pages to the most significant development which has oc- cupied our attention this year, our new Chapel.
