blocks North High man. I, VARSITY BASKETBALL Remembering Culver's team of last year, the Varsity Basketballers rolled into North High with all guns blazing on January ll, and scored over them, 69-40. Then came El Segundo and another victory followed by Morningside and a defeat, The Hawthorne team loomed up next, and follow- ing a Culver defeat, fell back to nurse its wounds. Beverly Hills followed suit, and fell before the Centaur guns. Hawthorne learned better and took the Centaurs in the next game, But the season's end, the final Beverly game, was the saddest of all, With two of our most valuable players missing, the team fought and took the lead in the first half, Then, as our boys logged onto the stadium floor once more, the big upset came. Beverly won, scor- ing all but two points on free throws.
