VARSITY FCJOTBALL Culver began the football season without hope but with a prayer. The first games were defeats. The team was small in size and power, and they knew it. lt was lacking in many things, many things except courage. And it was this courage, if nothing else, that pushed the team on, on over the mental block of early defeat, on to victory. One by one their opponents fell: El Segundo, Morn- ingside, Torrance, and who will forget the Beverly game. Now it was the crown, the league champion- ship, almost in their grasp. Then came Hawthorne, the shouting, the crying, the feet aching from stamping on the wooden seats, the hands stinging from clap- ping, and the throats raw. But it was their turn. We fell and we fell hard, but we had lost none of our dazzle for we had fought all the way. There he goes! Little 145 pound half back Ron Bridwell is on his way to his 80 yard touchdown run against Beverly Hills. Pete Pellerito, No. 44, is about to put key block on No. 19, Cohen, of Beverly Hills, b Av xl . 5 Q ,. 2 if ' 'kj' . .f 5 - cl' , ., V ' y as A T Y.. , . W' 'H ' W ' .',r get '- Q ., H .
