CLASS PROPHECY The year l960 Dear Mrs Smrth I recently made a tour of the Unrted States Much to my surprrse I saw each of my classmates of I9J2 l thrnk you mrght lrke to hear about my tnp As I passed through a small town rn Calrfomra I saw a very large crowd gathered at a funeral home I rnqurred who the drrector was srnce he looked famrlrar and was told he was Luther Copley Then as I entered Hollywood I had car trouble I looked for a garage and frnally srghted Hollywood Motor Sales I got out of the car to flnd the owner but he had a customer comered tryrng to sell hrm a car I heard hrm sayrng Thrs car rs a real hot rod rt has a new parnt Job a radro heater and seat covers I thought I had heard those words before, and when he turned around rt was rm Dawson smrlrng as always Whrle passrng through Reno Nevada I saw a man comrng out of a gamblrng Jornt happrly countrng hrs money He was accompanred by a beautr ful young lady It came to be Wallace Wrrght who really has a money makrng career When I reached Chrcago I drscovered my rear trre was low so I stopped at the first garage I came to The two frrendly mechanrcs were glad to help me Although therr faces were greasy I recognrzed them as Carl and Wayne Herald who own one of the largest garages rn Chrcago When I got to Mrchrgan I decrded to vrsrt a frrend of mrne rn Mrchrgan General Ho prtal A very short nurse carryrng a tray and also Jokrng wrth some other nurses came toward me It was Bonnie can Marcum who always wanted a nursrng career It was late one afternoon when I entered Columbus Ohro A whrstlev blew and I saw a large crowd As they passed my car I saw a slrm famrlrar It was our own ten o clock scholar Jesse Johnson Then one mornrng I passed a school house around recess trme The chrldren were havrng lots of fun and I notrced a tall young man playmg wrth them The prrncrpal of the rural school was Franklrn Lrttle Would you have thought rt? As I drove on through Ohro I passed a football field where a game was about to be played The coach of the home team was Alpha Gene Wrl lramson Near there I saw a grocery store It had Perrys Grocery on the wrndow The name was famrlrar so I stopped to see the owner I recognrzed hrm by hrs laugh It was Clrfford Perry Can you rmagrne hrm as a merchant? When I reached East Lrverpool Ohro I saw a conductor wavrng hrs hand to the engrneer When he stepped back on the trarn I notrced hrs dark complexron and black harr lt was none other than Ray Evans Whrle I admrred the scenery of Pennsylvanra I saw a nrce lookrng ladv walkrng through a park She looked up at her husband wrth whom she was walkrng and I notrced the facral expre sron to be that of Catherrne Marcum Fluty Then one nrght I heard musrc comrng from a nrght club As I entered I saw a tall black harred grrl srngrng and dancrng Some people next to me sard her name was juanrta Packo Wlrrle rn New ersey I passed through a town where a young lady caught my attentron as she walked down the street She turned rnto a nearby burldrng where I saw the name of June s Dress Shop I entered the shop and she welcomed me wrth a smrle It was june Stamper who rs now a famous dress desrgner the world over l then drove through the Shenandoah Valley of Vrrgrnra I saw Marrel Smrth on the campus of a Vrrgrnra college She rnformed me she rs now a professor of home economrcs Next I started for Florrda Whrle there I found a fine restaurant and the cookrng was done by Fred Hensley He does thrs as a hobby but rs glayrng football for F lorrda Umversrty l at ' Je 0.
