Despite midwinterblues, students always manage to find little bits of excitement to cheer their lives. An especially eventful occasion is the Miss Cross Keys contest. For weeks ahead of time the girls practice walking, pivoting, and their individual talent. Many hours are spent on talent alone, ranging from monologues to comical dances to classical ballets. While contestants await the contest with tense hope, students await it with excitement and wonder. The judging over, contestants and students feel relieved and happy. 41
