JR GIRLS' ACTION he junior girls' basketball team had an extremely successful year. At the beginning of the year the team entered the Tri-County Tournament at Lepanto and beat Buffalo Island Central in the first round. In the semifinals. the girls beat Manila and were off to the finals. In the finals the girls battled hard but came up short, losing to Oak Grove. However, the team did win its first trophy of the year - second place in the Tri-County Tourna- ment. As the season continues, the girls played hard in an effort to place big in the conference. Going into the conference tournament, the girls had placed second in the round-robin tposition based on conference recordl. This year's team has been working together since the seventh grade and their experience proved to be an essen- tial part of this teams' success. Next year's team, which will be made up of mostly ninth graders, will definitely be worth watching as they too have been working hard since seventh grade.
