THE STORY BEHIND THE MAKING OF ANANNUAL The annual staff starts early in the school year going to various businesses in hopes of selling an ad. This year we have hit Cherry Valley, Hickory Ridge, Vanndale, Wynne, Har- risburg, Weiner, Fisher, and as far as Jones oro. After the ads are gathered, we work on creating what will hopefully be a satis- fying ad. Then it is time to take the school pic- tures, club pictures, etc. Believe me, if f2fou'd like to see one person doing five di erent things at one time, just come into Mrs. Cooper's room first period. Well, by February everything is completed and we are proud of ourselves for finally finishing and anxious to find out if the annual we have labored over will please our fellow students. We'd like to thank our sponsor and someone who has helped us extremely, Mrs. Dot Cooper, a debt of gratitude to Mrs. Kay Wilson and Mrs. Joyce Woodham for carrying us to sell ads, and many thanks to the people who bought ads and you, the student body, for buying this annual. STUDENT COUNCIL ACTIVITIES he Student Council was very blessed to have such a devoted Presi- dent as Johnie Hampton. He worked very hard this year and through him the Student Council as well as the entire school had quite a few ac- complishments. Through the hard work of the Student Council, our school was led into many new activities. On July first, the officers and a few members met at school and with the help of Mrs. Mashburn, they started on the Thunderbird Country sign. At a special meeting on August first, the officers discussed several of the year's activities. Every one was carried out as the Council had a car wash on August twenty-third, had a back-to- school dance and everyone had to wear Jam shorts - the title was appropriately Jam Dance, and they also sold Catch the Wave buttons. The next proiect of the Council was the Homecoming ctivities. Once again they came through with shining colors as Homecoming was a huge success. The theme was Let's Celebrate and that they did as Homecoming was centered around the school's twentieth anniver- sary. The class of 1967-68 were given special invitations and passes to Friday nights game and were the guests of honor. he Council did a great job decorating for the dance as the decora- tions were an array of multi-colors, the perfect setting for an anniversary celebration. T415 QC , ey I As the year progressed, the Council had many projects. A food drive was in- itiated and everyone gave generously. ln February, they sold red roses and Val-O- Grams or Valentines and were grateful for the response of the Student Body. In preparation for the Regional Tournament held in March, the Council got an American flag to hang in the gym. It look- ed -lglreat. e Student Council had many other projects but they could not be reported due to the Yearbook deadline. By review- ing this article it is an established fact that the Student Council was very active and everyone should be very proud of all of their many accomplishments.
