Class History It's almost over now--the whole thing, Only a few more days--possibly a banquet, sneak day or maybe a party of classmates, a test here and there, the donning of caps and gowns and the filing together into the auditorium. That will be all. When we come out again, we won't be -Seniors. Was it really four years ago that we first made our appearance at Crofton High School? Impossible! It was only yesterday--or was it a hundred years before that? We might have been here always, so familiar does it all seem. And yet how vivid are those first few weeks! How different it seemed then. Thirty-five of us began with Mr. Ubben leading the way, assisted by Sharon Swift, Wesley Zart, and Roberta Stallings. We managed to have class parties during our Freshman year, and how the Seniors, those self-assured people, initiated us into the Student Body. Twenty-eight of us took our place as Sophomores, Mr. Bruce our Sponsor, and Roberta, Wesley, and jimmy led us through this year. Two parties were held during the year. Hal- loween was the occasion for the first. We finally gained recognition as high school students when eight members were chosen to wait tables at the junior-Senior Banquet. Our second party this year was a hayride-picnic. We left our Sophomore year a little better prepared for the last and most important half of our high school career. To the roll we added three new members. Mr. and Mrs. Hermsen were to help during the busy year. To assist them, Sharon took her place at the head 6f the class, with Wesley and Marjorie following. Our first party was a hayride-picnic, and on November Z0 we presented a play entitled "Half Past Teen," a comedy in three acts. A Valentine Buffet Supper was our second party for this year. In honor of-the Seniors we held the junior-Senior Banquet to the setting of "Old Mexico." Student Government Day saw most of us at Center, studying the processes of County Government. We began our Senior Year with twenty-four students. Mr. Cacek led us through this final year at C. H. S. Roger was elected leader of the flock, Wes held his habitual Vice- Presidency, while Rosemary gave her assistance as Secretary-Treasurer. December 2.0, 1952 we held a Christmas Party that was quite a success. The annual, our rings, announce- ments, credits, play, banquet---all memories now, But time, with the aid of a few patient and long suffering teachers, did its work and those frightened, blundering, noisy Freshmen, now clad in maroon robes and quiet dignity, are about to take their places together for the last time and we are getting a trifle emotional about it. Why were we here? Have we really accomplished anything? Very little, probably. It all lies before us. But what is it? Where are we going? Will we see each other again? Perhaps we haven't changed so since initiation. We know as little about the way in which to act in this new place as we did then. We were frightened then but our hopes ran high. We are frightened now, may our hopes still run high. These years have held their heart- aches, yet how happy they have been. May those years ahead be much the same! Half-dead memorqies--new emotions--a smile--perhaps a tear--and then farewel1.....
