Helping a student is Miss Clementine Williams, who
is at Creston only one period a day to teach retail
selling. She holds an AB. degree from Michigan and
a BS. honor from Prince School of Department Store
Service. ' ' 0 Reading an amusing item to her
class to serve as a bit ol diversion is Miss Mary E.
Windt, history and government teacher, who won an
AB. degree at University ol Michigan. She was pub-
licity chairman ofthe Crestonite. 9 ' 0 Director
of the courtesy squad is Miss Esther Wise, instructor
of business English, penrnanship, and bookkeeping.
An AB. degree was the reward of Miss Wise's studies
at 'Western State Teachers' College. She is associated
With numerous educational organizations.
Traveling to the tar corners oi the earth is the hobby
of Miss Cleo Wood, who conducts a number of English
classes during the school year. Miss Wood studied
for her A.E. degree at the University ol Michigan. Her
extra-curricular activity consisted oi taking charge ot
a skit tor the Crestonite. ' ' ' Supervising ac'
tivities in the chemistry laboratory is Mr. Walter Wood,
teacher ol chemistry, physics, and biology, and spon-
sor ot the Boys' Science Club. Michigan State College
awarded him his AB. degree. ,

Mr. Boyd R. Swem is Creston's instructor of com-
mercial law, occupations, cmd shorthand. Since secur-
ing an A.B. degree at Albion and an M.A. at Uni-
versity of Michigan, he has been extremely active at
Work on vocational guidance. ' ' ' By illustrat-
ing his idea on the blackboard, Mr. Robert Teele helps
his arithmetic class to understand it. He went to
University of Michigan for his BS. degree, has charge
of a session room, and was on the Saga advisory staff.
0 0 0 Assisting a student on an English assign-
ment is Miss Mildred Tenhaai, who possesses an A.B.
degree. Miss Tenhaaf teaches higher English to those
in her classes and also manages to take care of a
Mr. Norman C. Tock, instructor of printing at Creston,
reaches up to adjust a press. Mr. Tock, who has at-
tended Stout lnstitute, University of Wisconsin, and
Northern Arizona Normal, secured his BS. degree at
Western State Teachers' College. 9 ' ' Helping
an aspiring draftsman to complete a drawing is Mr.
Emery T. Toogood, instructor of mechanical drawing.
The Aeroplane Club is headed by Mr. Toogood, who
was also business manager of the Crestonite, as Well
as having charge of the eligibility of Creston's athletes.
The University of Michigan gave him his B.S.E. degree.
Standing behind her desk in the girls' gym is Miss
Esther VanderBroek. one of Creston's teachers of physi-
cal education for girls. Holder of a BS. degree from
Michigan State Normal College, she also teaches at
Union High School. 0 0 0 Hard at work on a
sheet of Echo copy is Mr. Iohn Van Krimpen, who
earned both an AB. and M.A. degree at the University
of Michigan and is an instructor of English and
journalism. Mr. Van Krirnpen is adviser of the Echo
and Saga staffs, both of which he organizes and super-
vises annually. ' 0 0 Creston's authority on
ancient history is Miss Marie Van Westenbrugge, who
secured a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University
of Michigan. Besides presiding over a large session
room, she teaches ancient European and World history.
Our football and track coach is Mr. Martin Van
Wingen, instructor of arithmetic and physical educa-
tion for boys. He has an AB. degree from Western
State Teachers' College and is a member of the
Schoolmen's Club. 0 0 0 Seeking a reference
book is Mrs. Louise Verdier, active faculty member
who teaches Latin and English. The University of
Michigan was Where she Won her AB. degree and
Where she belonged to many societies. She now is
director of the Creston P.T.A. U ' 0 Directing her
class' attention to a spot on the map is Miss Ella von
Sprecken. Students learn about modern and United
States history from Miss von Sprecken, Who is the
possessor of an M.A. degree.
Using a microscope to examine a dissection is Mr.
Gerritt Wassenaar, instructor of biology and general
science. An AB. degree was the object of Mr. Wasse-
naar's studies at Hope College. His personal ability
secured him the position of coach of Creston's golf
and tennis teams and placed him in charge of all
athletic equipment. 0 0 0 Hom e economics is
taught by Miss Rosetta Weiffenbcrch, shown here at
Work in one of her foods classes. Miss Weiffenbach,
Who also teaches clothing, holds a BS. degree and is
active in the School Women's Club and the Home Eco-
