Keeping in the Pink of Condition
Tensely waiting for the ball to ricochet off the backboard, these boys, up-
per left, are putting into practice against another city school's players the
ideas that were taught them in their physical education class.
With both contesting teams set for the opening play, the lads pictured
left center are having a chance to prove their sportsmanship in competition.
Legs kick as the ball is thrown at them in the photo lower left. The girls
are practicing the art of cooperation with teammates to push the ball past
their opponents. The spirit of working is taught in the girls' classes.
To the strains of musical accompaniment on the piano, the lasses, upper
right, are perfecting a dance with intricate steps and movement. Bodily
grace and posture are as essential in the classes as the rhythm.
"One, two, three, fourg up, down, up, down," drones Mr. Henry Schrump,
lower right, as he leads his charges in the building up of muscles.
Half-nelsons, head locks, and other terms in wrestling are being
by Mr. Martin Van Wingen to the lads. The fundamentals of
ing also are being presented to the boys who like this form of sport ' '.'
