Football STURDY pine on a windswept hill withstands the winter's beating sleet and snow because it has developed lengthy roots and lasting fibers. So also has Creston's football team withstood the trial of a long, tedious season because of the fundamentals well taught by Coach Van Wingen and because of the untiring effort of the team. The climax of the year was the CrestonfOttawa Hills game which was played on a snowfcovered field. This game resulted in removing the stigma of defeat left by the first city game and gave Creston the city championship. A basketball team thrives best when its members work together in perfect harmony, resisting opposing teams, supporting one another. The loss of the two veterans, Neil Ludwick and John Van't Hof, at the end of the first semester was like cutting down two towering pines, leaving the rest of the team exposed to stormy winds.
