- Football
THE football team of Creston High School covered itself with much glory throughout the

utter defeat. Many games were won in the closing moments of the contest, which shows the
fighting spirit that predominates in all of Creston's teams,

Basketball
THE Creston High Basketball Team of 1927-28 experienced a very successful season, winning
eleven out of the seventeen games played. Prospects for a good team seemed poor at the
beginning of the year with but one veteran returning from the 1926127 Championship
aggregation.
The team improved with each game, however, due to the hard -work of the members and
Coach Van Wingen. Basketball critics did not concede Creston as a titular possibility nor
expect it to more than break even in the games won and lost.
To the surprise of all, it won seven out of ten city games, and was in the running for
the Championship until the loss of Captain West. Every team in the city feared Creston this
year because of heir indomitable fighting spirit.
The City title was not won, but something else was won and that was the courage to fight
till the end when Creston entered Class A this year for the first time. The team r-eached the
second round but was defeated by Central, the City Champions. In victory or defeat, we may
say that we are proud of the team of 192'7f28 for what it accomplished and the spirit it upheld.
The linefup for the season is as follows:
