Though the three shop classes-metals,
woodworking, and drafting-are separate
courses, they are all interrelated. An example
of this teamwork occurred this year when
advanced drafting students Gayle Woods and
Bob Tallmon designed a sheet metal dust
guard for the woodworking class's circular
, saw. The device was subsequently constructed
by the metals class and will probably be in
use for years to come.

Although membership in Future Farmers of
America is not required 'of those taking Voca-
tional Agriculture, all the Creston Ag students
are members of the local FFA chapter. ln
their freshman year, the boys study breeds of
livestock, sophomores investigate feeds, ani-
mal nutrition, and field crops, juniors study
soils and conservation, and seniors concen-
trate on farm management. FFA provides out-
side experience along the same lines plus
opportunities to expand fields of interest.
One of the highlights of the year for the
chapter members concerned the school
board's approval of a new 40' X 80' steel
building that will house the ag department
starting in the Fall of 1968.
