Tl1e Madrigals c.1n1e along as a 11ew addi- tion to the departinent. This group consists of all- state vocalists who will cl1oose their successors upon graduation. Tl1ey have sung i11 many places, in' cluding flll' llill Riley Show on KRNT-TV i11 Des Moines. Tl1e Tri-Ms rneaning Modern Music Masters, were formed to recognize oiitstanding musicians in both instr11n1ental a11d vocal depart- ments. Four girls in striped blazers and black ties comprise the Beautyshop Quartet, and give ULII with some mellow harmony. Another new twist was added when the spring concert was presented April l8 in the form of an operetta, "Mississippi Melody," wl1ich was adapted from Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn's adventures. Vocal Groups Have A Busy Freshman girls in vocal music belong ro Junior Chorus. Serruzzf Rmw: Betty Tripp, Josephine Steinbach, Mina Tranharger, Sharon Diers, Sharon Gaidies, Karen Sclrratler, Donna Berger, 'Indy Page, Robina lloskinson. During the dition because three's not a crowd, but just second semester Helenbeth Taylor replaced Ann. right. The girls' trio, From Lvl! lv Right: Helenbeth Taylor, Melba Winans, and Carolyn Baker, sang proudly at state contest at Council Bluffs on April 26.
